How do you tell your beloved pup that you have to surrender him to a shelter?
Sadly, that was exactly what a dog owner was forced to do because she had to be hospitalized in order to undergo cancer treatment.
The woman felt brokenhearted because she knew that an overcrowded shelter was not a safe place for her senior canine named Jackson.
The shelter staff at Tulsa Animal Welfare, in Oklahoma, could tell how devastated the woman felt.
Deeply moved by the situation, the kind staff tried to find a solution.
They called Emily, a dog groomer and rescuer, and asked her whether she could foster Jackson until his mom was out of the hospital.

As soon as Emily heard about the heartbreaking situation, she agreed to open her heart and home to Jackson.
The dog owner felt like a big burden had fallen off her shoulders. She took Jackson to Emily’s home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“…Jackson’s owner brought him over, and I could immediately tell how much she loved him,” Emily told Newsweek.
The woman was grateful to her for taking her dog in.
She couldn’t stop crying as she said goodbye to her pup. Jackson’s mom kissed him and promised him that she would come back for him.
The doggo felt confused. He couldn’t understand what was going on as he watched his mom leave without him.
Emily and her family took excellent care of Jackson, lavishing him with attention and giving him a lot of love.
Although the canine had a wonderful time at his foster home, he didn’t forget about his mom. Jackson missed her very much, and he was convinced that she would come back for him one day.
During her stay at the hospital, the pup’s mom thought about her dog every single day. She kept in touch with Emily, who often sent her photos and updates about Jackson.
“She wrote me every day, asking about him, and I sent her updates. She ended up having to stay in the hospital for a little over two months. During that time, we treated Jackson like one of ours. He was such a pleasure to take care of, very laid back, and slept a lot, Emily added.
An Emotional Reunion
After Jackson’s mom was discharged from the hospital, she went to collect her best friend. She couldn’t wait to see him and hold him in her arms again.
The moment Jackson saw his mom walking toward him, he ran to her as fast as he could and kissed her face.
The canine was over the moon and he couldn’t stop jumping with joy. His human whom he loved immensely returned for him.
The Jackson’s foster family couldn’t hold back their tears as they witnessed their heartwarming reunion.
Everyone was overjoyed because the canine got his happy ending.
Many thanks to Emily for stepping in and helping Jackson and his mom when they most needed it.
