YONKERS – The Yonkers Animal Shelter is launching a campaign urging the public to report cruelty to animals.

The campaign’s advertisements will be posted at bus shelters on Central Park, Nepperhan and Riverdale avenues with the goal of getting more people to contact authorities when they suspect animal cruelty.

“Animal abuse is not only literally beating an animal,” said Julie Serenson, executive board member of Building Hope for the New Yonkers Animal Shelter. “Neglect is also abuse. Addressing this problem and speaking up is the right thing to do and everyone’s moral obligation since the animals are voiceless victims, as helpless as children.”
