It is not every day that you, all of a sudden, see a huge gap in the vines of your backyard fence. Still, exactly that happened to one couple who lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Drew Smith and Ruthie Johnson Smith one day saw a small area that had been cleared in a thick layer of plants. It was a total mystery to these people so they decided to watch the place over a few days.
After a long observation, they finally saw who was removing the vines and were very pleasantly surprised.
The Sweetest Reason
The culprit was their young dog, Caamp. Yet, he wasn’t removing the vines without reason, which was what delighted his parents the most.
Namely, a senior dog named Owen recently moved into their neighbor’s house and he was the reason why their dog was doing what he was doing.
These two liked each other from the very first day they met and didn’t want a fence and vine to separate them. Since they couldn’t do anything about the fence, they worked on removing the vines and were eventually successful.
After that, there wasn’t a day that they didn’t meet over the fence, and their friendship grew stronger every day. From complete strangers, Caamp and Owen became best friends.
Drew and Ruthie found these encounters so heartwarming that they decided to record one and post it on Instagram via their profile @caampstagram.
Although the Smith family knew that this video would attract a lot of attention, they could not have even dreamed that it would be to this extent. Among numerous reactions, most people wanted an update.
“Forget the vines! Take the fence down!” one user wrote, while the other commented: “I need an update, please let them play.”
A Heartwarming Encounter
Soon after the video of Caamp and Owen’s encounter exploded on Instagram, Drew and Ruthie decided to show it to Owen’s parents, their neighbors in Cincinnati, Ohio.
When these people saw it, they were over the moon and they all easily agreed to organize a meeting between their two dogs where the fence wouldn’t separate them.
It was a truly heartwarming encounter as both dogs were finally able to sniff each other and play as much as they wanted.
Regardless of the age difference, their energies matched and both were overjoyed to finally be together, especially Owen.
“Owen had the helicopter tail going,” Drew told The Dodo. “You could tell that he knew who [Caamp] was, because they’d met from across the fence. He immediately perked up.”
This encounter not only led to the creation of an unbreakable furry friendship but also brought two families together. “I think it’s fun, because the dogs’ friendship has helped spark a friendship between our neighbors and us as well,” Drew said.
Given human nature, who knows when that would happen or if it would ever happen? That’s exactly why our furry friends are there – to make something great out of every situation.
