What people often fail to understand is that dogs have only one true love in lives: their owners.
Sadly, many people decide to end that bond in a very cruel manner. Without even the basic courtesy of surrendering their companions to a shelter, they instead resort to abandonment. And that’s what breaks my heart the most!
Recently, a large 75-pound dog faced this harsh reality in Southern California when his owner decided to just throw him from the car.
Left on the street in the middle of traffic, the pup was utterly confused… and deeply heartbroken!
He Had Nowhere To Go
The dog frantically ran in circles, confused and shocked by what just happened. His owner drove away, leaving him alone on the street.
A local rescuer, Mary, spotted him and immediately notified Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy, a Californian rescue organization, about his situation.
“When he first got thrown out he was so confused, running around in circles in traffic,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
As she tried to approach him, Mary realized the dog was extremely skittish. Despite his size, he was just too afraid to let people get near. Yet he didn’t know where to go, so he remained on the street where his owner had abandoned him.
Sadly, his situation worsened when he attempted to cross the road. The busy traffic and moving cars only frightened him further.
At one point, he was nearly injured by a large Jeep.
“He is literally 75 pounds and so big but so scared. A huge jeep with huge tires literally went over him. Thank God the jeep was so high off the ground,” she added in the post.
Hall quickly collaborated with her fellow rescuers, Karla, Yamileth, and Nunez. This kind-hearted trio arrived on the spot by the end of the day, doing everything to befriend this big boy.
Eventually, they managed to lure him into a fenced yard with some delicious treats.
Although he was still traumatized, the doggo was finally safe. And he was soon about to realize it.
Heading Toward A New Beginning
The pup was given the name Benji, and he’s one lucky dog!
After being gently scooped up and placed in the car, he began a brand new journey.
And for Suzette this moment meant only one thing – the time of this dog’s fear and trauma was finally over!
“They got him into a yard and shut the gate. My heart was so happy. The fear and terror he had been through was over. And this big hunk of pure love was finally safe,” Hall concluded.
Thanks to his rescuers, Benji will receive all the care he needs. For the first time ever, he will truly learn what love feels like, far away from the cruelty and danger of the streets.
For now, he will remain in foster care, meeting new friends and socializing with other dogs.
When the time comes, Benji will be looking to find a new home – one filled with joy, laughter, and love. He certainly deserves it!
