Being someone who has owned a dog before, one thing I wish I could have given my German Shepherd was another puppy friend.
I realize now that just being with us was not always enough, and having a dog sibling was probably something that we should have given him.
Even though it’s been a while since then, I still think about it because the bond that dogs share is definitely one of a kind and they deserve to have friendships throughout their lives.
And, that is something that we will witness with these two chihuahuas who were living their life as street dogs when they suddenly got a new chance after being saved by rescuers.
Romeo And Juliet
When Romeo and Juliet were first found by rescuers from Fox’s Den on the streets of Washington, it was apparent at that moment that the two dogs were completely inseparable.
The rescuers took them in and gave them a fighting chance. It was clear that the dogs were really small not only because of their breed, but also likely due to malnourishment.
It’s unknown how long they spent outside, but that doesn’t matter now because their rescuers will do their best to help them regain weight.
Romeo also had quite a few health problems that needed addressing. He had joint disease and couldn’t move around as fast anymore.
When the rescuers were looking for someone special to adopt them, they did so under one condition. Both pups had to be taken in together, as they were completely inseparable.
Taking them away from each other would be cruel, so the shelter staff made a rule to find them a home where they would live together.
That’s when their new mom walked through the door and adopted both of them. Everyone was over the moon about this and the two pups were now heading to their new life together.
They Are Best Buddies
Even though Romeo and Juliet were happy to be in their new home in Washington, they were still a bit unsure and afraid at first.
That would die down quickly when they got used to being with their new mom who always took care of them. She noticed that Juliet was more playful out of the two of them.
However, when she gets tired, she always runs back to Romeo and they start snuggling.
One thing that was very special about Romeo was that he was a big eater despite being a very small dog. He eats very fast, and sometimes even steal Juliet’s food.
She gives him warnings to back off, but who can tell if he will ever take it seriously. Despite this, the two dogs have such an amazing relationship and their mom is happy for them.
Even though they are 10 years old and are considered senior dogs, they are still very mobile and playful for their age.
Their mom is making sure they are getting the best possible care, and I am so happy to see they finally got this chance, all thanks to her and the amazing rescuers who saved them.
