Woman browses shelter’s euthanasia list – when she sees a familiar face, she rushes to save a life

It’s always heartbreaking when a pet passes away, but one of the best things you can do in their honor is to open your heart to another dog in need — especially shelter dogs who are in danger of being put down.

Recently, one woman noticed a familiar face on a shelter’s euthanasia list, and began a journey to save the dog’s life.

Whitney Fang, founder of Hearts & Bones Rescue in Dallas, Texas, shared the story on TikTok of how a dog named Glinda came into her life by chance.

She was scrolling a shelter’s euthanasia list, and noticed something very familiar about this dog — with her black-brown fur and gray muzzle, was a “replica” of a previous dog she had named Luna, who had passed away

Whitney wrote that Luna was her inspiration to start rescuing dogs over a dozen years ago. Realizing it was a sign from above, she set out to save the dog from being put down.

She went to the shelter and visited the dog in her kennel. While the dog was shy and nervous, she quickly warmed up to Whitney. It was an instant match.

“I knew immediately that she was coming to my house,” Whitney wrote. “Meet Glinda.”

Glinda had several medical issues that needed attention, which along with overcrowding led to her being on the shelter’s kill list. She was sick, had masses on her body and had issues in her mammary area, likely due to overbreeding.

But Glinda underwent surgery to remove the masses and she is now recovering in Whitney’s care. “She tinkles when she sees me so I know we are going to have a good time here!” Whitney wrote on TikTok.

She said that the rescue was in honor of the late dog that Glinda resembles. “This one is for you, Luna,” Whitney wrote.

What a beautiful rescue story! Whitney saw her old friend in Glinda’s face and knew she was meant to save her life 🥹❤️
