As the vibrant spirit of spring dances its way back into our lives, many homeowners dust off their gardening tools and embrace the sunshine-soaked days ahead. With a song in their head and love in their heart, they go into their gardens, ready to wake nature up and call for its colorful blooms.
While some just clear overgrown weeds and add a couple of new planter boxes, others decide to do a complete garden makeover. One such homeowner was a couple who decided to take apart a rundown shed to make way for something brand new.
They demolished the walls rather quickly and started working on the shed’s foundations, unaware that they were about to step into somebody’s home.
Adorable Surprise
As they lifted up the flooring, the homeowners were greeted by a pile of the tiniest, cutest babies cuddled up next to each other.
They quickly stopped what they were doing and came closer to the litter, wanting to find out what animal left their litter underneath their shed.
It turned out that the litter was actually seven fox cubs having a little nap.
The homeowners decided to wait for their mother, thinking that she would soon return for the babies, but she was nowhere to be seen.
As they waited, they feared that because they destroyed the family’s habitat, the mother wouldn’t return at all.
Worried about the well-being of the cubs, the hoomans decided to contact The Fox Project for some assistance.
As soon as they heard about what had happened, a team of rescuers immediately headed to the location.
Rescue Mission
When they arrived, the rescuers carefully placed the cubs into a box so that they could be more comfortable and as warm as possible.
“The cubs were carefully placed in an open-top box with a hot water bottle and monitored from a distance, with the householders showing incredible dedication throughout the afternoon and evening,” The Fox Project wrote on a Facebook post.
The homeowner refused to take their eyes off the box, hoping their mother would return. After many hours of attentive lookouts, they spotted something incredible.
The mother came back!
“After hours of anticipation, the moment we had all been hoping for finally arrived. The courageous mother returned and lovingly moved each of her precious babies to a new, safe location,” The Fox Project wrote.
The couple, as well as the rescue team, were overjoyed to see the mother return, especially considering the fact that the chances of this happening were extremely slim.
“Despite a disturbance to their den caused by a shed being dismantled, the quick actions of the householders ensured the safety of this beautiful fox family. While yesterday’s family was fortunate, some vixens may be too scared to return,” they added.
All’s Well That Ends Well
Thankfully, the caring mother carefully relocated her litter to a new location, hopefully, a safer one where they will be able to continue to grow and thrive without being disturbed by any hooman ever again.
The Fox Project expressed their gratitude for the homeowners’ quick and correct response and took this rescue mission as an opportunity to give other renovators some advice.
“This heartwarming success story serves as a reminder to everyone to postpone garden works like shed dismantling, patio renovations, and similar activities for a few more months. Let’s give these beautiful families the space and peace they need to flourish,” The Fox Project concluded.
However, if you do end up coming across a cute pile of baby animals like this one in a place where they maybe aren’t safe, do not hesitate to contact your animal shelter and get them the help that they need and deserve.
