A truck driver was traveling through Benson, Arizona, recently when an unusual sight forced him to slam on the brakes.
They noticed a small white dot resting on the shoulder of the Interstate 10 exit ramp and quickly realized it was a puppy who needed help.
Someone not only abandoned the puppy on the busy highway, but left her with a tie tightly pressed around her neck.
The driver stopped and immediately jumped in to help the poor girl.
“Fortunately, a truck driver spotted her, stopped her, removed her tie, gave her water and kept her safe until a trooper arrived to help,” the Arizona Department of Public Safety wrote on Facebook.
Soldier Ileana Magallanes arrived moments later. The puppy, whose neck was still swollen and whose eyes were bloodshot, greeted the officer by wagging his tail excitedly.
“[She] remained friendly and happy despite her ordeal,” the Arizona Department of Public Safety wrote.
Trooper Magallanes drove the pup to Benson Animal Shelter (BAS), covering her with a comfy blanket and endless affection on the way there.
The loving BAS team then took care of the beautiful girl, whom they named Brandy.
Brandi immediately went to foster care with the shelter director. She had a long road to recovery ahead of her, but fortunately she was in good hands.
It wasn’t long before she had a forever family.
“She’s doing a surprisingly good job!” “She has a home once she is spayed and fully recovers from her tragic event,” Bass wrote on Facebook.
Today, Brandy feels better than ever at nursery. There’s still some time before she can return to her forever home, but the team knows she has what it takes to overcome it all.
Bass wrote on Facebook: “She is a fighter, and fortunately she no longer suffers from any long-term effects as a result of the torture she was subjected to.” “She is a survivor of animal cruelty.”
