The use of Rottweilers as security dogs has a history that spans generations. This is primarily due to its nature. When the Roman emperors came to power, these dogs were used to protect wealth and herds of livestock. As long as they receive training and socialization, Rottweilers are versatile and well-suited to a variety of tasks.
In today’s world they are the guard dogs of choice for families. Brenna Kramer is an animal lover based in Zephyrhills, Florida, who shares her home with two Rottweilers and an enclosure.
She acquired these dogs not for her own safety but also to ensure the well-being of her horses, whom she so adored. Little did she know that these same dogs would one day play a role in saving her horses’ lives.
One night something unexpected happened. While Brenna was fast asleep, her vigilant fangs started barking incessantly from inside the house. Sensing that there was trouble outside, I immediately went out to investigate the commotion. Her first priority was to check up on her horses.
To her surprise, she discovers that someone has tampered with the stables’ power supply before attempting to steal the horses. One of the horses had a rope around its neck – a sign of play – and it was clear that the others were also targeted.
However, the two brave dogs would have run away quickly had it not been for their bravery. In their attempt to protect the horses, one of the Rottweilers ended up with two head injuries. Incidents like this are very common in California, where horses can fetch prices when sold. Fortunately, the bravery of these two dogs ensured that her horses were saved.
