A former prisoner saved a girl who was drowning in the river and took her home — but that night, the neighbors heard strange noises and screams coming from his house

After ten years in prison, the man was finally free. He had been accused of taking the life of an innocent person. But he kept insisting that he hadn’t done it. He said he was innocent, yet no one believed him. All the evidence pointed against him — his fingerprints were found at the scene.
After his release, he didn’t return to his hometown, since his family had long turned their backs on him. Instead, he bought a small house by the river, raised chickens, planted potatoes, and lived quietly. The villagers avoided him and were afraid of him. Some didn’t even greet him; others crossed the street when they saw him. Everyone was convinced he was dangerous and could take someone’s life again.
One day, while working in his garden, he suddenly heard a sharp scream:
— “Help!”
The man ran toward the river. A young woman was struggling in the water, desperately trying to stay afloat. Without hesitation, the former prisoner jumped in, pulled her out, laid her on the grass, and began performing CPR. The girl coughed and finally opened her eyes.
He took her home, removed her wet clothes, covered her with a blanket, and gave her some hot soup. By evening, the girl had calmed down and fallen asleep.
But during the night, the neighbors heard strange noises and cries coming from his house. A woman was screaming, someone was calling for help.

The neighbors got up, grabbed flashlights, ropes, and shovels — and headed to his place. They were sure the man had taken another life.
— “See? We were right to be afraid of him,” said one of the men.
They approached the window carefully, peeked inside — and what they saw shocked everyone
(To be continued in the first comment )
The girl was lying on the floor, surrounded by a red puddle. The man stood beside her, holding a cloth. He was pressing against her side, trying to stop the bleeding. Someone shouted:
— “He took her life!”

— “We knew it! Once someone takes a life, they never change!”
They tackled the man to the ground, tied him up, and someone called the police. But when one of the men looked closer, he noticed that the girl was still breathing softly.
It turned out that when she fell into the river, she had suffered a serious injury. During the night, the wound reopened as she slept.
The former prisoner shouted for them to call an ambulance, but no one listened. Everyone judged him for his past — no one even thought that he was only trying to help.
The next morning, everyone stood silently in front of his house, not knowing what to say.
